Everyone (except Kurt) Got a stick.
This was to poke around in front of you in the water to ensure you didnt step on a submerged gator... It wasnt very reassuring |
Walking across the swamp (knee deep mud, waist deep water) to pick our gator
Our instructor picked the gator for us and explained the procedure
He roped it
and we had to pull it across a swamp, full of other 10+ foot gators, to land
Not what I normally wanna see on the other end of a rope I am pulling on. It was 10 foot and weighed roughly 550 lbs
We took turns pulling it to shore
Yup!, Thats my wife! Pulling 550 lbs of gator across a swamp
The gator never had a chance. ;)
I think it was annoyed.

Makes for a pretty good photo too
It took all four of us to get it up onto dry ground.
Here the instructor showed us how to stick our fingers in the very back part of its jaw, which has no teeth, as a place to get leverage over the head. |
Aint as easy as it looks tho. Doesnt help to know there are other large gators swimming around behind you.
And now......
Our instructor had to show off a little
